Here’s a new Static Canvas video for you! In which I talk about four detective games I played recently that have a unique spin on the formula, or have something important to say about how the world works.
A little behind the scenes for you, i’ve had this script mostly written since last June. It’s from the remnants of the abandoned script I talk about in my LA Noire video, from which the Hitman episode of Canvas Cuts also comes from. Not one to let things lie, I finally found a way for it to work that I’m happy with, and voila, for your entertainment.
I hope you enjoy it, and if you’re interested in the games featured, most of them are available on itch.io.
Paradise Killer is multiformat, and currently on gamepass.
Echo Beach in is free to enjoy, although I would recommend throwing a few pennies the developer’s way, as they do a lot of great similar titles, such as Rivals, which I haven’t played, and Riley and Rochelle, which I featured in my Games You Probably Didn’t Play in 2022 video.
Hypnospace Outlaw is on a bunch of different platforms, and has a spiritual successor pegged for launch in 2023 called Dreamsettler, that I’m really excited for.
The Devs of 2000:1: A Space Felony also have a few other games on the site that are worth looking at. Once Upon a Crime in the West is also really good, although I think Felony is the best of the bunch
Hope you’re all well, and looking forward to the scheduled post coming tomorrow!
